When Being Activated Is Not the Same as Being Loved

Field Note 16

Activation can spark a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, urging us to step outside our comfort zones and embrace the unknown.

It pushes us to explore new dimensions of ourselves, to find strength in our passions and purpose.

While love nurtures and comforts, activation challenges and inspires, creating a dynamic balance that propels us forward.

Together, they form a powerful duo, each complementing the other, shaping our journeys with profound impact.

When we feel something intensely, we often assume it must be important.

Sometimes we associate love with emotional activation.

We become fascinated by mixed signals. Drawn toward uncertainty. Pulled into cycles of pursuit and withdrawal.

Yet some of the most meaningful forms of love feel surprisingly quiet.

Someone remembers your how you like your tea. They notice when you are tired. They make room for your thoughts. They listen without trying to win. They pay attention.

Attention is expensive.

Not because it costs money.

Because it costs presence.

Being able to discern between those helps save time.

Am I seeking activation?

Or am I seeking nourishment?

The asking & noticing helps us shape our lives.
