Field Note 20
Some of the most valuable experiences don’t ask for your money.
They ask for your attention.
The birds outside my window did not send an invoice.
The morning sky did not send an invoice.
The breeze moving through an open door did not send an invoice.
The smile on a child’s face did not send me an invoice.
Yet they all asked for my attention.
I sometimes wonder if attention is one of the rarest currencies we have.
Not because we lack it.
Because so many things compete for it.
The sunset is free.
Seeing it is not.
Seeing it costs a moment of presence.
Today I am grateful for the things that cannot be purchased but can still be received.
Guide your attention with love.
