Angle Shifter

Field Note 21

I found a crow feather and noticed a strange diamond pattern running through it.

The weird part was that there didn’t seem to be anything creating the pattern.

Apparently tiny changes in angle, wear, compression, and light can create surprisingly large visible effects.

Then I noticed rainbow seaweed on the beach.

Same thing.

Light catching it at the right angle,

& seaweed hasn’t changed.

Just the relationship between the light, the surface, and the observer has.

Tiny structural differences.

Large visible patterns.

All this to say…

Stop waiting for dramatic transformations.

Start paying attention to small shifts.
